This 24th of June we are celebrating the natal day of our very own Patriarch and Founding Bishop, John Florentine Teruel, son of the Matriarch, St Maria Virginia P. Leonson. I shall start with his name.
THE NAME JOHN
The name 'JOHN' means 'Gift of God'. It was the name announced by Gabriel to Zacariah, father of John the Baptist. JOHN is the forerunner of the Lord Jesus. He baptized the people of his time through the Jordan water for the forgiveness of sins. Zacariah sung the famous BENEDICTUS in reference to the role his son, John, shall do for the glory of God. John the Baptist, according to the Lord, is the prophet Elijah whom the Israelites are waiting.

THE NAME FLORENTINE
The name 'Florentine' refers to the people of Florence, the capital city of Tuscany Italy. Florentine is synanimous with Fiorintini, Firenzi, Fiorenza and Florentia. Florence is the cradle of the Italian Renaissance as well as the birthplace and chosen capital of many notable historical figures like Dante, Leonardo Da Vinci, Botticeli among others. It was the Florentines who reinvented money in the form of Gold and saved the economy of Europe out of the Dark Ages.
Florentine or Florentia in its English meaning is 'Flourishing', an active form of flourish which means growing vigorously; thriving; prosperous like in the sentence 'a flourishing little business.'
